A seed stage VC fund called Bolt, recently did a tear-down of the Beats Solo HD headphones. The tear-down revealed not only that the Beats headphones have many average to sub-par materials, but also that the company adds weights to the headphones to make them feel more premium! A Gizmodo article on the tear-down goes even further to add, that the Beats headphones are designed to break quickly.

We are not fans of lifespan-limiting design and planned obsolescence. We think you should get value for your money, and would rather grow sales through turning customers into product advocates, then to force customers to buy new headphones every year.
